- Geneticist and cytologist Margaret Mann Lesley (1891-1988) earned a Ph.D. from University of California in 1921 and worked primarily at the Department of Horticulture, University of California Citrus Experiment Station, Riverside, California; she published extensively with her husband James W. Lesley (1888-1982) on tomato breeding and genetics. She was known for her cytological analyses.
