- Description
- Landscape and seascape sketch showing a view of crashing waves and violent surf on the coast of Mount Desert Island in Maine. In the foreground and middle distance, foaming surf and breaking waves crash against a dark rocky point that projects into the image at left. At center right, one particularly large wave begins to crest. Above, the overcast sky is rendered in a warm shade of grey, made warm by the brick-colored ground beneath the oil paint.
