- Description
- This is a square–shaped blown and molded glass jar that has a round glass stopper. The white oval baked enamel label is marked FERR LACTIC. The jar would have contained Ferrous Lactate, also known as Iron Lactate.
- Iron lactate was used as an astringent, a tonic, and a styptic to stem blood loss from wounds. This jar is illustrated on page 30 of the Squibb Ancient Pharmacy Catalogue.
