- Description
- Since 1988, most presidential and vice presidential debates have been held on a college or university campus in part because the Commission on Presidential Debates saw overlap between the educational mission of these institutions and the Commission’s mission to educate voters. Appreciating the opportunity debates provide to improve their visibility, schools often produce debate souvenirs. Longwood University presented their mascot Elwood as a bobble head debater to commemorate the 2016 vice presidential debate held on their campus.
