- Description
- Cherokee National Treasure, storyteller Robert Lewis, talks about growing up, his family, how he got into telling traditional stories. In his second performance of the day, he elicits help from members of the audience to tell stories. One is about how Rabbit does three tasks for the creator involving the ants, a rattlesnake, and an alligator in order to get long ears, knowledge, and wisdom. The second story he tells is about how coyote gets in trouble dancing with the pretty stars of the Pleiades. He tells another story about a hunter who adopts a wild boy who learns the secret of the hunter's success. A boy from the audience named Zeke tells a story about how Coyote gets fire from a cave to bring light to the world. This performance was webcast and recorded in the Potomac Atrium of the National Museum of the American Indian on June 10, 2016.
