SI DAMS serves as the Smithsonian’s enterprise digital media repository and provides trustworthy storage, management, access, delivery, and preservation.
SI DAMS works as an underlying mechanism to ensure the stewardship of the Smithsonian’s digital media assets in order to support the Institution’s essential mission—the increase and diffusion of knowledge.
The Office of the Chief Information Officer Digital Platforms Division administers the system, develops guidelines and policies in collaboration with collection holders, and builds integrations with other systems in the Smithsonian’s digital ecosystem.
SI DAMS is an internal system available only to SI Staff. The following resources were built for an internal SI audience but are made available here for public reference:
- SI DAMS Mission Statement, Digital Collection Management Policy, Designated Community, and Preservation Strategic Plan
