Mamie "Peanuts" Johnson, a pitcher and one of three women who played for the Negro Baseball League, talks about her joys and challenges as a pioneering sports figure. Johnson played professional baseball for three seasons from 1953 to 1955 with the Indianapolis Clowns, winning 33 games and losing 8 games. Cosponsored with the Historical Society of D.C.

(ages 8-14 with adult) Take a close look at the exquisite layouts and design of pages from the royal albums compiled for the great Mughal emperors Jahahgir and his son Shah Jahan, builder of the Taj Mahal, in the related exhibition. Then return to the classroom and use handmade papers to construct an album page in the Mughal style. Bring a 4 x 6" or 5 x 7" full-length portrait or group photograph.
