Cinematic Collaboration: Fellini & Antonioni

Film historian Max Alvarez examines the complex artistic relationships of several famous actor-director duos. This afternoon, he discusses the works of internationally acclaimed Italian directors Federico Fellini and Michelangelo Antonioni. Fellini, through his Neorealist roots and work with actor Marcello Mastroianni in such films such as La Dolce Vita and 8 «, has inspired many filmmakers with his distinctive dream sequences. Antonioni also rooted his early films in Neorealism but later dealt with existentialism in art films such as L'Avventura and La Notte, with Italian actress Monica Vitti.

Students from Church Rock Academy in the Navajo Nation near Gallup, New Mexico, share their love of music and celebrate their culture. These young Navajo students have adopted the steel drum -- often associated with Afro-Caribbean cultures -- as their own. They celebrate their own culture with traditional Navajo music and other cultures with such music as reggae, calypso, and limbo. Come dance to this irresistable music!
