See some 28 sculptures ranging from figuration to abstraction by Swedish artists Ulla and Gustav Kraitz. To create in their works a luster and purity found in nature, the artists used kilns based on ancient Chinese models and followed the traditional art of Chinese glazing. Three classic glazes -- temmoku (brownish black), celadon, and oxblood -- comprise the Kraitzes' primary colors, along with an intense cobalt blue.
Organized by the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES).
