Roy Lichtenstein: Landscapes in the Chinese Style

November 8, 1998 – February 7, 1999

Arthur M. Sackler Gallery
1050 Independence Ave., SW
Washington, DC

Location: Sublevel 1 and 2

On view are 26 examples of Lichtenstein's works that reveal the influence of classic Chinese landscape paintings, along with 6 Chinese works that inspired him. Between 1994-1997, the artist -- famous for his "pop art" -- adapted his technique to produce a series of paintings, collages, and drawings that captured the style of the classic Song dynasty.
