QN -- the Time Traveler

May 19, 1986 – September 15, 1988

Air and Space Museum
601 Independence Ave., SW
Washington, DC

Location: Near the Langley Theater escalator, Gallery 115, 1st Floor, East Wing

Paul MacCready has constructed a life-sized, radio-controlled replica of a large prehistoric "creature," a pterodactyl-like craft resembling the Quetzalcoatlus northropi, whose 35-foot-plus fossil remains were found in Texas in the early 1970s. The replica, also known as QN--The Time Traveler, will appear in the NASM film On the Wing, which examines flight in its various forms. The exhibition is accompanied by a video showing QN's construction and test flights.
