Examples of calligraphy, carved woodblocks, book covers, prints, papers, and photographs of Tibetan artists and scholars are used to demonstrate the importance of hand papermaking to the book arts of Tibet. The Paper Road/Tibet project is designed to revitalize the practice of traditional handmade Tibetan paper, teach the concept of recycling, and teach vocational skills to young handicapped Tibetan children at the Jatson Chumig Special School in Llasa, Tibet.
The exhibition is in conjunction with the Folklife Festival program Tibetan Culture Beyond the Land of Snows.
