The National Museum of Natural History receives numerous requests for
information on endangered species. This pamphlet, listing references on
vertebrates and citing additional sources of information, has been compiled
as a public service. The prime governmental source for information on
this subject is the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Division of Endangered
Species, 1849 C Street, N.W., Mail Stop 452, ARLSQ., Washington, DC 20240.
See site http://endangered.fws.gov/The suggested
reference list is divided into eight sections. The publications listed
are not available from the Smithsonian Institution but may be obtained
from most large public libraries or can be requested through an interlibrary
loan. Many are currently in print and can be ordered from local bookstores.
