The Arts and Industries Building has a special role among Smithsonian buildings as the first United States National Museum opened in 1881.

Highlights Working carousel located on the Mall outside of the building and the Mary Livingston Ripley Garden with more than 200 varieties of plants in hanging baskets and borders

Note The Arts and Industries Building is currently closed for renovation. It is available as an exclusive special events venue.
